How to apply and register for CSC-Computerized Examination (COMEX)

CSC COMEX (Computerized Examination)

The CSC offers the Civil Service Examinations (CSE) via two modes: (1) written and (2) computerized. You may choose to take the exam through any of these modes, test forms used in these modes are equivalent in terms of level of difficulty. Also, both modes contained the same number of test questions and have the same time limit, but please take note that there are differences in the application process and fees involved, as well as the releasing of results.

(1) The Pen and Paper Test (PPT) is usually offered twice a year. Requirements for application should be submitted to any CSC Regional or Field Office within the period of application that is announced at the CSC website, www.csc.gov.ph. This is on a first come, first served basis, and you need to coordinate with the CSC office where you plan to apply to inquire about available slots. The list of passers will be released within sixty (60) days after the exam. Fifteen (15) days after the release of passers, the ratings will be made available through the OCSERGS. To get their certificates of eligibility, passers should coordinate with the Regional Office where they applied.

(2) The schedule for the CSC Computerized Examination or COMEX, on the other hand, is announced through the COMEX website, http://comex.csc.gov.ph/user/ . Interested applicants may create/register an account through this website. The COMEX is administered in sixteen (16) Testing Centers across the country. All CSC Regional Offices (CSCROs) and the Central Office serve as Testing Centers. You can take the COMEX in your preferred Testing Center. Requirements for application should be submitted on the day of the exam itself. Results and certificates of eligibility will be released one (1) week after the exam through the CSC website, unless an extension is announced due to technical problems.

How to avail the CSC-COMEX? please read the details below:

COMEX DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENTS

Documentary requirements to be presented during personal appearance before the designated CSC Office on the scheduled date and time (for the processing of examination application and for the actual examination):

1. Original and photocopy of any of the following ID cards, which must be valid (not expired), and contains the name, clear picture, date of birth and signature of the applicant, and the name and signature of the issuing agency’s current head/authorized representative:

       a.    Driver’s License;
       b.    Passport;
       c.    PRC I.D.;
       d.    SSS I.D.;
       e.    GSIS I.D.;
       f.     GSIS UMID I.D.;
       g.    PhilHealth I.D. (must at least contain the applicant’s name, clear picture, signature and PhilHealth number);
       h.    Current Company/Office I.D.;
       i.      Current School I.D. (validated for the current school year/semester/trimester);
       j.      Postal I.D.;
       k.    BIR I.D. (ATM type/TIN card type with picture);
       l.      Barangay I.D.;
       m.   Voters’ I.D.;
       n.    Police Clearance/Police Clearance Certificate; or
       o.    NBI Clearance.

Note:
       a.    ID card is a MUST. The “NO ID, NO APPLICATION PROCESSING” and “NO ID, NO EXAMINATION” rules are strictly implemented.
       b.    Any other ID card not included in the above list shall NOT be accepted.
       c.    ID card/s without date of birth shall NOT be accepted.
       d.    Photocopy only of ID card shall NOT be accepted.

2. For applicants without date of birth in their ID card/s, original and photocopy of Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority or the Local Civil Registry printed on Security Paper (SecPa).

3. For applicants holding dual citizenship under R.A. 9225, original and photocopy of Certification of Retention/Re-Acquisition of Philippine Citizenship issued by the Bureau of Immigration.

THE 5-STEP-CSC-COMEX PROCESS

1. Register to create user a account (Examination Account Registration)

In creating user account, the first thing to do is you must create an email account in Gmail or have an existing and valid e-mail account and use Google Chrome browser in registration. You will then be asked to supply information such as personal circumstances, education, employment, examinations passed, and civil service eligibilities.

The following procedures shall be observed:

• For non-holders of CSC COMEX account

1. Access the CSC COMEX website www.comex.csc.gov.ph/user
2. At the homepage, click the “Sign Up Now!” button
3. Fill out completely the online Registration Form
4. Submit the form by clicking the “Submit” button
5. Check your e-mail account for the system confirmation e-mail (Note: The system confirmation e-mail may be found in the SPAM folder.)
6. Activate your COMEX user account by clicking the activation link provided by the system confirmation e-mail (Note: Successful account activation shall redirect you to the COMEX website.)

Make sure to activate your account within 24 hours. Otherwise, your account will be automatically deleted by the system.

Registrants are advised to login to CSC COMEX website as frequent as possible to avoid deactivation of account. Accounts that have been inactive for three months shall be automatically purged from the database of registrants.

2. Reserve an examination slot (Online Reservation)

Guided by the Schedule of Examination and Online Reservation, please follow the steps below:

1. Access the COMEX Reservation website (http://erpo.csc.gov.ph/comexreservation/user). Fill out the required fields.
Important: Please remember or take note of your login credentials (email address and password).
Those with existing COMEX Reservation Account, shall log in and update your account to select the preferred type and date of examination.

2. Login using your email and password (http://erpo.csc.gov.ph/comexreservation/user/login), and choose SLOT RESERVATION.
Important: A countdown timer is indicated/shown to mark the start of reservation.

4. Refresh the page as soon as the timer/countdown has ended to start your reservation.

5. Click the “Reserve A Slot” button and wait for the Confirmation.

6. If you have successfully reserved a slot, click “Ok”. Go to “View Status” and click “Print This Form”.

Note: The number of examination slots available for online reservation is very limited. Slots may be taken and filled up in a matter of minutes. We strongly encourage those who were able to reserve a slot and later decide not to pursue taking the test to cancel their reservation online in order for others to be able to take the slot.

Instances of failed attempts in accessing the CSC COMEX website may be caused by congestion in the light of simultaneous access by the public. When this happens, applicants shall refresh their connection and try accessing again.

3. Appear at CSC for preliminaries and confirm examination slot (Examination Slot Confirmation)

After reserving examination slot, the applicant will appear personally at the CSC Testing Center to confirm his/her application and finish the remaining states of the application process. It will involve the following steps:

1. verification of the applicant’s identity based on the information he/she supplied in his/her user account
2. payment of examination fee
3. capturing of applicant’s photo, biometrics and digital signature

4. Take the actual test (Actual Test Program)

Pertains to the proper which will involve, among others, the ramdom assignment of each examinee to a test form and a testing computer, the authentication of examinees’ biometrics, and the actual taking of the test.

5. Get the test result online (Test Results Processing)

The examination results will be processed and the examination reports generated, after which, the examinee can immediately access his/her score online. Data will be backed-up and PSP data submitted electronically to the CSC-Integrated Records Management Office (IRMO).

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

1. Admission of applicants on examination day closes at 8:30 a.m.
2. Wear proper attire on examination day (sleeveless shirt/blouse, shorts/short pants, and slippers are NOT allowed).

TEST RESULTS

Test Results shall be available within one (1) week after the examination. It shall be released officially through the posting of the list of passers in the CSC website.

CERTIFICATION OF ELIGIBILTY

Issuance of Certification of Eligibility (CoE) in lieu of the Eligibility Card to passers shall also be available within one week after the examination.

However, the period of posting of test results and the availability of CoE may be extended as necessary in the light of possible system technical problem.
