September 26, 2016

Thousands of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) based in Hong Kong who wish to take civil service examination may soon be given the chance to take it.

In a press statement, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said they are coordinating with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for the conduct of the civil service examination for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Hongkong.

"As part of the Department of Labor and Employment’s reintegration campaign to encourage OFWs to return to the country for good, we are working with the Civil Service Commission, through Chairperson Alicia Dela Rosa-Bala, to conduct the civil service professional and sub-professional examination among the OFWs, initially in Hong Kong," he said.

According to Philippince Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Hongkong Attaché Jalilo Dela Torre, the CSC is now in the process of benchmarking with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on the mechanics of the exam.

The said examination is scheduled to be held on November 27, if approved by CSC.
